MISSION STATEMENT

 

The Center for Advanced Analytics and Business Intelligence (CAABI) will provide resources to Texas Tech faculty, students and external constituents for

·         Education in advanced analytics, focusing on the gathering, evaluation, and use of information to support decision making, with special emphasis on issues pertaining to large databases, data and text mining, for the purposes of developing new classes and enhancing existing classes, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels;

·        Research in advanced analytics, focusing on the gathering, evaluation, and use of information to support decision making, with special emphasis on issues pertaining to large databases, data and text mining, for the purposes of enhancing research at Texas Tech University and at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center;

·         Developing an advisory board from various industries to gather input and resources concerning their intelligence needs; including students that they hire and problems that they wish to solve;

·         Assembly and dissemination of current information and case studies related to advanced analytics to the larger scientific, academic and business communities, to Texas Tech University and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center;

·         Access to and analysis of large data bases relevant to Texas Tech University and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center;

·         Assistance in statistical methodology and statistical software selection in general applications;

·         Design of collection and design of storage of information needed in advanced analytic contexts; and

·         Research and teaching using advanced computing technologies, including use of advanced visualization and computing techniques, including simulation design and analysis, distributed data bases, and distributed computing (grid computing).
